Glass Windows

Glass windows – the concept is easy to understand.  Glass windows have been standard fixtures in homes, churches, and other buildings for centuries.  What purpose do they serve?  They allow us to look outside and inside.  Glass windows let in light, they let in air, and they keep out rain, wind, and snow.  Glass windows also control the amount of sunlight that comes into the house and they offer a sense of security.  We have accepted glass windows as such a necessity in our lives, we take them for granted.  And as it goes with things we take for granted, we forget the critical value they provide to our quality of life.

But are glass windows really that simple?  The fact is, windows are quite complex.  They incorporate many features that must efficiently work together in order for us to enjoy them:

  • Inside Stops
  • Outside Sashes
  • Jambs
  • Interior Trims
  • Sills
  • Inside Sashes
  • Exterior Trims
  • Parting Beads
  • Frames
  • Weatherstripping
  • Screens
  • And more

Unfortunately, there are some ugly truths about glass windows.  For one, glass windows break easily.  That’s no secret.  Anyone who knows kids, knows that basic fact.  But glass windows are also bad at conserving energy.  Poor window quality is significantly responsible for a major part of a home’s high energy bill.  As well, glass windows deteriorate with time.  As your home ages, glass will deteriorate due to normal use and exposure to the elements.  The windows will appear misshapen, warped, and bent in odd concave and convex configurations.  Even severe weather can cause your windows to operate inappropriately.  Because your windows are a functional part of your home and impact the overall appearance of your surroundings, what alternatives are there to this obviously inferior material?

Amazing Siding & Windows has the perfect alternative to glass windows.  Since 1990, we’ve been installing the highest quality vinyl windows in the industry.  Our vinyl windows are a popular choice for many homeowners for several reasons, all of which are benefits that glass windows don’t offer.  Our vinyl windows are inexpensive, easier to install, and easier to maintain.  Our vinyl windows prevent heat loss better than aluminum, which will please your pocket book when it comes time to pay the heating and air conditioning bill.  Our vinyl windows are made with double strength glass. This makes them more durable – they can take the brunt of a foul ball or bad tee shot and they’ll still look good as new – and those kids and beginner golfers won’t have to hide in the bushes anymore to keep from getting caught.  Our vinyl windows are custom made, quickly installed, and come in a variety of decorative styles.

Our vinyl windows also incorporate two very important concepts:

  • R-Value
  • U-Value

When buying windows, it’s critical to check these values.  The R-Value measures a material’s resistance to heat transfer.  Therefore, the higher the R-Value means the better insulating properties of that material.  The U-Value measures the rate at which heat flows through the entire window; which measures overall energy-efficiency.  Therefore, the lower the U-Value, the more energy-efficient the window is.  So what you want your windows to have is a high R-Value and a low U-Value.  You won’t get these with ordinary windows, but you’ll definitely get these with our vinyl windows.  Add that to our low-e coating and argon gas insulation and you also receive U.V. protection!

At Amazing Siding & Windows, you’ll be getting a lot more than just the superior alternative to glass windows – you’ll be getting our professional installation and customer service excellence.  Contact us today to request an estimate!
